Worth a Word Wednesday – The Ride

Something new, something different.  The travelling poet on a bike!  I hope you enjoy this little deviation from my usual travel posts.  Here it is:

Off she goes

in search of something to quench their thirst

There’s an oasis, out in front

she knows what I want.

The ride half completed.

A trade for one and no more.

Time to return

Once cut, our thirst quenched

with a stream of sticky sweet liquid down our chins.

No more rides for today

for a watermelon.

WATERMELON

In the words of a blogger friend Debs World  – I love it when people leave me a comment, so don’t be shy – comment away!

  1. Good morning a different but beautiful post, the mix and match works well, who wouldn’t get addicted to coming for a peek you made me want to get out my Dutchie and ride to the first shop. Though exotic melon is not often found in a village post office in rural Suffolk … so maybe an apple with crunch for me. I may wait until the thunderstorm clears and I dont need a pac a mac to cramp y style.

    1. Hahahaha oh my goodness my imagination was going riot, imagining you rocking up in a big yellow mac, asking for a watermelon. Believe me those buggers are hard to carry back in a backpack! Love the Suffolk countryside 🙂 Dare I say it, I am missing the odd rainy day!

      1. It has been I am not kidding… the loudest longest thunder and lightening I have experienced outside of Vermont (that is another whole ball game). It started about midnight by four it was directly above us by five it was just a monsoon and now it is quiet but very drizzly wet. P.s. my mac is red and only sits ion my hips. Oh noooo my Mother is here for the day the 85yr old critical queen and I’ve not slept this should be a fun day. Happy poetising I will be back again soon.
