Housesitting, Housesitting in France

Where the blardy hell are you?

Here we are, in the region of Hauts-de-France.  To break that down even further, we are staying in a small commune just out of Fruges, in the department of Pas-e-Calais.

Today, being the 6th January is precisely one week since we hopped off the train at Calais and arrived at our next French housesit.  Our first weekend was filled with social get-togethers and having a quick introduction to the local surrounding communes.  The time has whizzed by, no doubt due to the fact we have been busy assimilating all the information and new surroundings.

This will be our fourth housesit in France which should make it easier to sort out what is the more suitable places to visit for food and to top up the cash.  Plus the patience to work out the idiosyncrasies of French life.

A previous housesit was on the other side in Northern France, from where we are now.

More pleasurable, will be the familiarisation with the local Pâtisserie, it’s the small things in life, you know!

As we have a few months here, I will write more about the different things that have stood out for us.  In the meantime, let’s start off with why we are here, which is to care for two cats and two dogs plus their home.

Our day starts off with an unusual alarm going off, this alarm clock is uncommon in the fact that it needs feeding.  Let me introduce you to LouLou [left] and David [yes well not too many cats are named David and conceived in Dodge Stadium in the USA].

The other family members are Louie and Nellie, black siblings, full of energy and lovers of long walks.  More importantly, they now understand kiwi English.

It’s going to be an interesting three months taking Louie and Nellie for long walks, checking out some local villages, visiting people we have met so far and just enjoying this small part of France.

Until the next instalment, I bid you

Bonne Nuit/Goodnight
